Painting the floor

Hi... what do you guys use to paint floors? It looks like it has some sort of bitumen on it at the moment... you can dig you finger nail into it... Should I use that again? It looks difficult to get off!

it took a while to get that crap out of mine, i think i ended up using a grinder on it and made a mess, but i had to get it out to weld the floor up,

then i just painted the floor with red oxide then black top coat. you can get like a special grippy, non slip sort of paint for walk ways, i did think about using that but as i want make carpets, i didn't bother.

I got rid of the most of it with a chisel and hammer, then a grinder to get the remaining crap off.

I used hammerite... but I wouldn't listen to me as I don't care about bodywork

The stuf that's on there should chip off with a hammer and chisel on a cold day easily enough, it does act as sound deadening though so if you can it's worth leaving in.

I usually paint the interior with a good etch primer, then stone chip and then paint it to match the outside.

However on my Lwb I'm going to paint the whole interior with paint on raptor liner.

I was looking at the Raptor paint... I am using the SJ all the time, so I don't really want to take it off the road for any length of time... I imagine the interior will smell a bit for a while after painting the floor.

It looks really scruffy The SJ was originally yellow, it's been resprayed dark green, but the floors are a mixture of yellow, grey, bitumen and green... I looked at carpet replacement but it's about £170 for a taylor made one... rubber would be nice, if such a thing existed... Just trying to get it looking nice

If any is loose I would get it off as it traps moisture underneath and encourages rust.

If its all still well stuck down I would just rub down, paint with a decent primer, then some decent top coat.

Yeah... unfortunately someone has tried to get it off and got bored! The front is Ok... it's just the back which is kind of a mess... I might have to actually do some hard work...

Can you paint onto it then?
