New drive belt

Post by rob381 » Thu Nov 13, 2014 6:46 pm

Hi guys, just managed to fit a new drive belt on my 54 plate 2.0 GV. The old one was really easy to remove but the new one was a really tight fit to get back on. Just to satisfy my own curiosity I tried to remove it again and refit it, got my socket and bar on the spring loaded adjuster and turned it clockwise but it would only move a small amount and I had to slide the belt off the adjuster. Refitted the belt again but it was a very tight fit over the adjuster. I have followed the procedure as per manual but I am really struggling to see any markings on the adjuster to make sure I have fitted it correctly. Could the old belt have stretched ? Any advice much appreciated.

I doubt the old belt has stretched, but I would expect the drive/v side to wear out over time making it a little loose. I only have the same info as you from the manual, but will post it anyway.
Sorry I can't be more help..

Thanks Darrell, yeah that's the info I've got. It's the markings on the actual adjuster that I can't make out ! I'm just worried that it may be over tight because as in previous post I can only get a very small amount of movement on the the adjuster to release the tension. Thanks for taking the time to reply.
