I normally get mine from Llama 4x4 but I very much doubt you will be able to get them over easter!

Same, New U bolt set from dave at Llama 4x4.

As for shackle reversal kit you planning on making or buying?
if in doubt, FLAT OUT!

mans tool kit > duct tape, wd40 and a bfh is all you ever need

Just toying with the idea of shackle reverse at the moment. If I was to go down that route it would be home made brackets for minimal lift. Same as my spoa brackets have made them sit as tight to the axle as possible giving 4" of lift including spring pack.

Hoping its already wide enough on 31/10.5 31's on offset rims with 30mm wheel spacers.

Had a productive day. Got spring perches welded on rear axle and then while it was off thought it would be rude not to give it a good going over with a flappy disc and a lick of good old hammerite.

Then stripped and rebuilt back brakes ready for going back on.

I think you may be surprised how high it is when you put it all together.

I think your probably right jordi was hoping to increase the ride height a little as have been running it for years on +2" springs and +2" shackles and when the springs get tired the tyres rub on the arches when off roading. This is my third set of springs in 5ish years. And I was hoping to go back to standard length shackles in a bid to make the springs last longer.

P.s does anyone know the length of the original shackles (hole centre measurements)

Personally I think 31" tyres are about right for a 4" lift and no trimming... looks big without looking top heavy!
and I think the standard shackles are about 75mm-ish
although mines on spacers and 15x8 rims... probably would look about right with 4" lift, so unless you're offset more than that i would think wider ;)

Are you running correctly positioned bumpstops? I.e. That don't let the springs flex past flat. Sounds like you are going through an awful lot of springs! most of the time it's not just the long shackles that kill springs but incorrectly positioned bumpstops, they must be set at the correct height to avoid over flexing the springs.

Personally I wouldn't bother with shackle reverse on a swb vehicle like an SJ and there's not really any way to do it without it adding 2" lift unless you want super short shackles or to drill and sleeve the chassis.

The most I would ever lift would be just spoa and the 2" springs, there's no need for any more than that it will just start getting top heavy unless you go really wide. Stock shackles are 70mm between centres.

I used to run 31x11.50s on my 10" wide wheels with just 2" lift springs and lowered bumpstops and had no clearance issues or rubbing after removing the seam on the bulkhead and front crossmember outriggers.
