I drive a Grand Vitara 2.0 16v and tow a little caravan with it, it tows great!

If anyone knows of Rhault hill in north wales, it's a fairly steep hill, my GV tows the little caravan without any problems straight up it, I'm guessing its weight at around 800kgs but I do need to get it on a weight bridge cause of the weight I've added to it, I fitted an alko hitch to it and it's brilliant!

I will be looking at upgrading to something bigger and more modern in a year or so as it's a little cramped, but they say the ideal 85% weight match for the 5 door 2.0 16v is about 1100kgs

If your wanting to tow then I'd say go for the XL7 as it's bigger, heavier, has a bigger engine and can tow a bigger caravan...

Thanks Jay 18, Another friend of mine suggested an XL7. My van is quite similar in size to the one immediately to the left of yours in the photo of the line up.

Done a bit of searching, not 100% sure on this as I used a different website a few weeks ago and the weights were slightly different! I think it worked out that I could tow 1170 at the 85% mark which is recommended by the camping and caravanning club..
