If you are going to the effort of re-jigging the engine mounts to fit a G series engine it would be a G16 every day of the week for me.

The G13 is fine for a standard road going SJ but as soon as its a bit modified and being used to play in the extra torque from the G16 is so nice.

:pompom: Congratulations dude :pompom:

Keep the SJ, buy the vit....fit the vit engine, break the rest and jobs a good'un!

If you're gonna change the engine go straight to a 1.6. Same work required, much better performance.

what about the c.v joints and half shafts? would I need to upgrade em to deal with the extra power?

Yea if you're upgrading go straight to 1.6, i did the 1.0 > 1.3 > 1.6 transgression and the middle bit was only usefully as i got a gearbox out of it.

Congrats on the marriage! Hope you were serious about using the SJ as a wedding car!

everything will handle the extra power as long as you don't upgrade to silly tyres.

Vit engine, alternator, starter if its skinny, gearbox to engine bolts, power steering pump if you want it.

G13 flywheel, clutch, engine mounts, clutch cable bracket, sump and oil pickup if you are staying low.

Both exhaust manifolds seem to work depending what angle the engine ends up mounted at. I prefer he 1300 manifold.

I ran a 1.6 with the twin transferboxes with 33" tyres and the 410 axles coped really well! only blew up one CV joint when i was at core4x4 and thrashing the shit out of it up a big climb.

The rear shafts are the same size so the same strength, the diffs are pretty much just as strong as samurai diffs and the only bits that are slightly weaker are the front shafts and CVs but it's not by much.
