Tracks can be made by vehicles belonging to the land owner or forestry vehicles but aren't evidence of a legal right of way, they can also be made by illegal off-roaders and that's the sort of evidence that the antis love to use to get the lanes closed. A GPS and a good map or mapping software are essential laning tools.

Ok cheers for the heads up because the road from the byway was leading into it aswel as a road passed it I thought it was ok but cheers for the info got a gps just need to get a map of the byway

or simply check the ordnance survey map on Bing maps, or check your local council website. They will have up to date maps of rights of way.
