Has the transmission tunnel already been modified to fit a 410 gearbox? Of not then you might have to do some tweaking/possibly cutting to get a 413 gearbox fitted.

Not really sure...I'm assuming it's running a 410 gearbox and transfer case. When it gets picked up on monday some further investigation is called for.

Just read through some old LJ posts and it seems the Vit engine idea is not such a good one after all. Not going to cut up my LJ. So for now I'll stick with what it has, maybe a 1.3 engine later on...

Right...off we set through gridlock hell on the M25 to pick up the LJ (Piglet 5). Readies were handed over, I got the V5 and a BMW estate car boot full of spares. Got back around 4pm after leaving at 9.30am...BAD traffic.
So an initial inspection was called for. Lights...offside headlight works but very dim...possible bad earth. No fog light, maybe the crap wiring going into it. No horn either. Brakes are almost zero so that really needs attention. Mayo in the oil filler cap, and the dipstick held down with a return spring (not a good sign), oil spraying out of the cap onto the rocker box. Probably the head gasket. All the fuel lines are rotten so they will be replaced as are the rad hoses and it really needs a new radiator too. A few little rust bubbles on the rear wings but nothing serious at the moment. The seats in it are from a Smart car, they need to go. Number plates are well illegal. The speedo glass is cracked but that should be a couple of quid from a glazier. The steering wheel I hate so the Astrali it came with is going back on.
Lots of good points! Brand new mohair roof, and the frame has been cut back so it doesn't look like a tent anymore. All 5 wheels and tyres brand new. New unused (and unwired) Superwinch. CB and aerial. Rev counter. Inclinometer. Chassis looks great as do the shocks (Procomp...yes I know...) but the springs look a little tired. Has the ultra rare rear seat and fold away spare wheel hinge. The spares are also amazing, lights, indicators, starters, coils, wheel spacer (1), front bull bar, front bumper, covers for the soft top frame, the list goes on.
Already been on ebay, no hoses and of course no LJ radiator so will ask here first.
Going to get cracking tomorrow on her, if the head has gone I might just plonk in a 1.3 lump as it came with a 5 speed box as spare. Maybe the Vit engine might be feasible as it has had a 2" body lift...any thoughts?

Thanks!
Ordered a few bits, fuel hose (8 metres of the stuff, might need to replace everything), a new horn, measured up the rad and I think an SJ one will squeeze in so ordered that. Lots of bulbs! Having trouble finding some hoses though.
Oh and of course I ordered a cherry bomb...
