It's more for the fact, as you said the discs don't fill up with mud like the drums do. My next step will be a handbrake too, it's currently the drum type coming off the tbox, i've read mixed reviews about the X-eng. Good once a heavier return spring has been fitted to it?
Anyone changed the spring and happy with how it performs?

Scottie's redone his spring and has a nice picture on how to do it.
personally since switching to the transfer drum brake I haven't had any problems with it and it works well

They are exposed to mud and water though and tend to wear out very quickly, the advantage is that they are easier to change than shoes.
