Solid looking trailer that, looks like it could carry a fair bit of weight

Been thinking about the best / most effective way to get a lid on this trailer for a while. Box section and sheet steel or Ali checker plate was crazy money. Finally decided that chopping a land rover roof to suit is the best way, sturdy and light.
Picked this up this evening, off a 88" series. Should do nicely! Needs a few inches taken off as well as trimming the tailgate and bulkhead to be flush with the sides. Then the plan is to make is side opening on struts.

Bit of metal off the back end. A plasma cutter would have been a real luxury compared to my 4.5" grinder!

Nice! Just be careful, now that it's part Land Rover, bits may randomly decide to fall off as you drive down the road.

Ha! You're not wrong there!
...or will it just be the most reliable land rover ever??

More slow progress, I'll have it ready for the end of summer at this rate!
Chopped the front off and tacked on some 40mm box so that I have a flat lip around the outer edge for the roof to deal against.
The land rover roof doesn't have much rigidity on its own, so I've decided to make a frame from 40mm box section. This can than be used to mount the. Hinges and the latches and the land rover roof jus needs to be trimmed and riveted in place.
More pics to follow shortly, I hope!

Coming along really nicely, looking forward to see how this progresses, might even steal a few ideas for if I ever get round to building mine!
