I had the death wobble for a while, it was from around 35-40 mph and made the steering wheel swing left to right, then back it was quite violent but you could accelerate through it & it would settle down, I don't know if its the same for you (you describe an up down motion) but my problem was most definatly the steering damper it was knackard & just seemed to let the momentum build up, I replaced it for a procomp item that has been fantastic, & I would recomend it to any one! I didn't realise how badly I needed one until it was fitted.

Update,
The front left wheel was massively out of balance 116 grams on one side 65 grams on the other. I have had it rebalanced, and checked all the bearings, etc, all is now fine.
