Are the 2 top engine to 'box mountings on the vitara an M12 thread? I have 2 suitable bolts but they dont screw in and are very tight, could it be that the engine thread is a fine thread or course?

Would the bolts I have cut their own way into the thread or do I need to track some proper ones down?

The oil pressure/fuel pump safety switch normally fits on a tee piece along with the original pressure switch. This switch is special as it allows power to the pump when the starter is turning and then via the normal ignition circuit once it is running. Don't think most people bother ;)

Im not too fussed about having a switch to let it run before start up as with the amount of fuel that sits in the float bowl there's enough to get it started and run for a good 30seconds before it dies :) and by that time the pump will be running anyway.

I'd like something just as a little saftey aspect should the worse happen and it wants to carry on pumping ;)

Like you said before a double pole switch (1 normally open / 1 normally closed) would work well, but I've never seen one :er:

Yea they are m12, Ive now ordered 2 x m12 fine 1.25 pitch, I did order m10 cos I looked at he gearbox which m10 so that was a mistake. I'll have to split it and drill the holes. and I'll let you know if they are right.

Ok another question.....does one of the "plates" that sit between the engine and box need to be used or modified?

As obviously when the box is in place, on the left side (looking from box end) theres a huge gap above/next to where the original unused Vit hole is that would let dirt and water into the bell housing.....How do I get round this?

Also the starter I have doesnt QUITE fit, its not a major "doesnt fit" just a little off the side of the starter mounting flange should do it.

EDIT: SCRAP THAT, IT DOES FIT!

I'll get pics up in a bit but it would be great to get some answers as soon as :) thanks

I modified the spacer from the 1.3 to clear bits on the 1.6 and then filled in the gap left behind with a little bit of ally cut to shape and stuck on with silicone.
