Welcome to the forum. As said. So long as you're a dab hand at welding it'll be fine. Dead easy to work on.

I'm 18, level 2 qualified mechanic but never worked in a garage.. yet.. and ill tell you now SJ's are by far the easiest thing to work on, everything just comes apart by removing a couple of bolts here and there, the engine is so basic and easy to maintain, and as said we are here to help, any questions just pop one in the forum and someone will guide you in the right way..
and i will be waiting for the build thread, always good to see a new SJ on SCUK...
