does anyone know what sorts of carbs I could use on a sj410 engine? My old one has severe issues, and I was thinking of what ones to use, I know a su carb will work, but is there any other ones I could use?

So, i cut out some more rust in the footwell, and saw this: So I guess I will have to take the pedal of, and weld on a new mount, to make it a bit more robust

By the way, this is the condition of my bumper and just for your informations sake, if you ever see tires like these, consider buying them as they are great tires, they are actually officially snow tyres, but are just amazing in the mud

So, I got a little more done today.
the old man's Mr Angry packed up, so i went to borrow one at work, and done some of the heavy rust cutting. The floor pan support is a little rusted too as you can see in the last picture. This is where the bullbars bolt unto as well, so do you reckon i should fix it, or just hammer it? the rust is only a little bit so...

I started to make a plate to fix the sill end I also found that the sill had acquired some mud over the years through the rusty hole that used to be there this appears to be a breather hole for the sill just behind the cab, should i leave it, or close it off? I am also trying to find a carb for it now, and placed a bid on a su carb, model unknown, so we'll c what happens

So I got some more done today.
finished cutting most of the sheetmetal to fix up the right sill I also cut this plate for the floorpan, but it has a small gap as you can see. Will this be alright to weld? I also cut out at the windscreen corner and cut some new plates for it I also organized a welder to use today , and got some tips for it to use 0.6mm wire. The only thing is that I will have to drive there to use the welder , so gotta sort the carb first now. i just bought a su carb, so I'll see if I can get it going

Looks like youve really got to it.

You should get away with some small gaps when welding the plates in. Just start on the thicker new metal and work the pool across onto the thin old stuff in really short little bits to try keep it cool and not warp/melt.

Its mainly in the prep so the cleaner you get the old and new parts and the closer fitting they are the easier it will be.

Hope you get lucky with the carb. Any idea what it is yet?

Maybe one of the KJA owners will be able to help you with regards to the sill vent as its not something I've seen on a SWB.

some more rust cutting today, this was the left hand side footwell I also cut the bumper mounts back like in the picture here, but I was thinking i might need it to protect the tyres. Will this be fine like this, or what do you guys think?

I think she needs some wider tyres looking at this pic

Half the UK zooks I see including mine have no bumper and the chassis tube cut like that. All legal here and improves approach angle. Dont know what your local vehicle tests are like over there though so cant speak for that part.
