Ill be honest I presumed the eye on the front of vits were probably as weak as the SJ ones, didn't realise that they were actually suitable for recovery use. On SJs they usually bend if used for recoveries; or if you are unfortunate like I was and have an idiot+ a landrover recovering your SJ then you end up with a bent and torn front crossmember as well

my son pulled his front off eye and wrecked his steering damper pulling out a diahatsu on his sj, also bent and torn the from tube x member.
i had to weld it up, but it did pass the mot.
my vitara front/rear towing eyes are much stronger than the sj ones, i see no reason why they would not be ok for pulling with, you could always weld it up a bit more.

The front recovery eye in the middle on the front of an SJ looks a bit fragile to me. If I was going to recover something I'd use my tow hitch at the back as I have a tow rope with a woven loop in the end specifically for going over a tow ball.

My towing eye got mangled on the front so I soon chopped it off!
