All the adjustment is done inside the drum, much like manual adjusters in a normal drum brake, there is more than enough adjustment available there to get it working well. I adjust it all the way up to the point that you can't turn the drum with the handbrake released and then back it off a small amount at a time to the point you can no longer here the shoes rubbing as you turn it.

If there's loads of slack the cable has probably stretched to a point that it should be replaced

I've done exactly that Scott now i have an adjuster hole. Still pulls a long way. Drum isn't too worn, new shoes, new cable.

Think I might have to move the bracket I made. Did you end up making the same bracket as mine Jordi?

Mine went on the original Sammi mount Dan. I think it just wants moving back an inch to tighten the lever up.

This is the bracket I ended up with. I'm not sure how it will cope just bolted to the thin(ish) cross member, but as long as it passes the MOT. There is still no adjustment though

I can then crack on with my spare axles and rear disc brakes, with hand brakes on them.

Ladaman wrote:Yeah I've read the stickie, and it does say there is a small amount of adjustment on the cable, but I cant think how, nor how the cable would mount.

The cable mount I've made was from flat plate, and where I've bolted it to had FAR too much slack in it. So I have bent mine back to tighten it up, but it seems a bit crap if the cable or 410 set up doesn't have any adjustment from original build.
I've edited the stickie, as the small amount of adjustment is next to nothing ! My bad
