Buongiorno, Grazie for the welcome.

Did not set out to find a Sj in such good condition but after about 2 mins lifting carpets knew I was going to have it,( after having owned a triumph spitfire and herald I know the joys of rust ) still checked everything else for anything major, hopefully a good service and new windscreen and full exhaust and good for another 27 yrs.
Here in Italy there are loads of SJs for sale but as I said they are expensive here, Euros min 2000 for a real tatty one so this one at Euros 2300 could not say no ( uk plates and steering wrong side but unlikely to overtake anything so not a prob ) .
Problem now is it really would be a shame to muck about with it so will have to keep it standard, though still more than capable for the use I need, live in the hills so plenty of snow in winter and dry offroad tracks in summer.
It was driven out here in 1990 ( some journey ) and has been used one month in summer every year since.
Tramp, thanks for the comments. Looking through the forum saw your post of 1986 sales brochure, that blue one is almost identical apart from fwh and bonnet decals. also read about your accident,hope you are miles better now. I too love bikes ( 2004 bonneville ) and have two kids 2yrs and 4yrs so not loads of time for play. To everybody please look after yourselves and LOOK OUT FOR BIKES.
Have put up some more pics so you can see why I could not say no.

Well you can certainly eat your dinner off it!!. If you really wanted though you probably could convert it to left hand drive im sure it couldnt be that hard ;)

The only thing that has become clear is that additionally I need 4 new springs, was not planning on that and am a bit shocked at the prices for decent ones ( ie. softer ones ) Not the sort of prices I can hide from the wife at almost 20% of car price. My argument that we needed an SJ for the winter was based on price, she does not need to know itis really a toy for me and getting a bit more expensive than i said.

Must say it is almost a pleasure working under an jap SJ, all the bolts come undone and a bit of room to work in.

so to update previous posts, new exhaust , windscreen, swivel hub kit and FOUR NEW SPRINGS and she'll be good for another 27 yrs.

Thank you, yeah you know life goes on, I still love bikes but I don't ride them any more, im sorry that you have found a few issues with your SJ but you can always treat it as an investment, id have thought that when you sell it you will get every penny back that you put in!
