im gonna hopefully whip the engine out tonight if all goes as planned. whats everybodys thoughts on the carb front? my current one is running an su which is ok but the conversion on it isn't great. the new one is running a standard carb at the mo.
keep the standard carb until I can afford the proper manifold conversion or bodge together the su conversion for now?

If it was me I would just whip out your engine with as much fitted to it as possible to save time and just run the SU, that said the stock 410 carbs are good little carbs.
whats up with the SU conversion, they are pretty much bolt on?

yeah very true, be a lot quicker for a straight up swap. its just a bit bodged really, like the difference between the choke on my su and the standard carb is immensely different. to be honest though I think the su probably just needs a tinker with and a good clean up.

Leave the carb for later as then you can get it all built proper. Just my stone through.

Get it built and running Steve, sort the little issues like the carb later.
As said standard 410 carbs are half as problematic as the 413 carbs.

sold as seen, you looked at it
I made no claims to the condition of body work
I know there was some filler on the back, didn't really want to disturb it though
I was gonna suggest a virtual lift to fix the back, only thing is the front wings are pretty rust free, it's your SJ now though so carry on
What I would do is drill out the spot welds on the arch lips, then you can use them as a template for the new arch shape that you cut out, spot weld them back on and refit the arches, looking back I wish it was what I did with mine and how I'm gonna do it with the Lwb.

ah tis all good matey. ill just virtual lift her all round, gonna take a while but ill speak to paul tomorrow. to be honest im glad I found it as now have an excuse to spend more time on it and get her totally rust free before the transplant
and lets face it, it wouldn't be a build thread without a good deal of cutting and welding now would it

You're gonna need some bigger tyres then
