Oh another thing...referring to Helen's 410 my old one stopped on a penny. Massive front discs and no weight does help!

Rear drums get full of mud and then it acts like grinding paste and screws up the shoes really fast.
Its annoying because you can never really clean them out properly without taking the drum off
Also, if you have the same brakes front and back you only need to buy 1 type of brake pads

Ive got discs on mine and i reckon they are good.,be a lot easier to clean the mud off of too.!!
I dont live far from you Jay,pop over and have a look.

Hopefully I should have my rear disc conversion done either tonight or tomorrow night so will let you know if I think it makes much improvement. I thought my old brakes were horrendous, even straight after new rear shoes, but that may also have been due to a sticky front caliper. Anyway, my old setup should be a good comparison to four freshly rebuilt calipers. I'll let you know!

Yes, the fronts are usually bigger - which is why I'm fitting the smaller vit calipers to the rear of my SJ, to make the rear less likely to lock up.
I have the dual rear pipe setup where one of the front calipers is connected to one of the rears, so they should balance themselves fairly well without messing with bias valves - but we'll see!!!

Jay18 wrote:i will have to have a look at my calipers then, one of my drums were bunding as it was very hot after bringing it home from the storage, but it doesnt seem to get so hot now so i would say its fixed itself, just need to check the calipers arent sticking, should be okay then...
want to get by 1.6 conversion done, cant wait to do it lol
