the whole principle of gaining engine power is based on percentages. if you do a mod, and gain 10% power(which is a lot by the way), you will notice it on a bigger engine, as it will be a substantial amount. because the 1.0 is so small, you won't really notice a change like this, so you would be wasting your time and money. I talked to my local engine rebuilder, a very experienced guy, and he agreed it is a waste of time doing anything to gain power. the only worthwhile thing to do is to keep it running smooth, and well tuned, to prevent any power losses

Has he actually tuned a 410? I found the difference very noticeable, the mods that I had were very common a few years back.

You could pollish out all the ports on the inlet manafold ummmmm
A whole engine rebuild new valves and that.whould give it a bit more power I think

I don't think so. an engine rebuild is only needed if the bores are glazed, and the rings etc are worn out. I don't think it would give a lot of gain in his case, more hassle than it's worth

end of the day it is what it is, a 1L engine. the suzuki sj isn't really ment for motorway cruising, besides B roads are more fun.
I've advanced the timing on mine by about 10 degrees or so (wouldn't want to go any more) and the power increase is minimal.
the only thing to do is the engine swap, but like ya say, insurance etc is a killer.
stick with it for now bud, be alright until you can afford the swap over

Okay guys, I need to do my oil seals anyway and still got the 5 speed waiting to go in so that may help a bit, does the 413 dizzie actually gain any advantages? Or is it just cause it has no points?

I think Scottie said something on the line that K&N filters on an offroader are a silly idea. Let in so much crap, stick with the standard filter.

I'll have the head off, clean it up and do all the oil seals and fit the 5 speed and see how she goes for now, while the head is off I might just port it and blueprint it just to get a quicker flow and see if thre is any difference at all....
