Yeah they can be a problem, especially when I've been driving in my SJ's in the past they tend to try and 'nitpick' at problems. Mine are always road legal and safe I tell them, and to go catch a real criminal lol.
I have to take off the arches anyway for the paintjob, and repair surface rust around the arches so may as well treat it to some defender arches.
