slowly does it I really need to get some .6mm wire and tips for the miqg, sj bodywork is a nightmare, even running the mig on 1 blows holes in some places instantly

You never know

Outer sill all welded up, going to do the floors on Saturday and then weld up the inner sills when the body is off again, saves lying on my back getting covered in sparks

Im quite interested in this, as its abit different to the box section idea.
Hows it look as a whole unit? Does it look like youve lifted up a ladys skirt and can see all her undercarrage?

I like your description lil beastie I spose it does a bit It just looks really high under the sills and you can see more of the chassis really, but the rocksliders will be underneath there soon hiding some of it again.

The reason I am doing it is because I want a cage I could remove from the chassis and didn't want to integrate the exo cage into the body work with box section sills, but I also didn't want to loose ground clearance under the sills with the rocksliders for the cage whilst keeping the strength of a chassis mounted cage so the obvious solution was to move the sills out of the way if that makes sense the exo cage will be bolted to the sliders and to the chassis through the rear bed.

It kind've felt wrong taking an angle grinder to an SJ with rot free sills but I think it will be worth it.

Cheers matey, well I got back from a week in France today so I can get back on it in the evenings and at the weekends. I want it done by the Kirton weekender in August so fingers crossed I can get it done by then If not it WILL be done in time for Core in October

Ive never had a problem with hitting the tbox or the middle of the chassis (altho have hit the exhaust)

I have It's not only a guard though, it helps brace the two transfer boxes together and is also going to be part of the transmission mounts. There is no longer a seperate gearbox mount and I am not using the original transfer box mounts again as It's a pain in the ass to get the transmission out with this set up using them.
