Turbo-diesels like a less restrictive exhaust, the turbo spools up faster. For Overlander stuff check out the auszookers forum as well, they like that sort of stuff and have a big country for it too.

Cheers Rhinoman will take a look at Auszookers .
Helens truck is a naturally aspirated 1905 xud pug motor but I agree with you . Her exhaust is straight through stainless big bore through to a single stainless cherrybomb and we hope it does the trick .

Love this idea, I've seen a Hilux kitted out that way. A LWB SJ is a better vehicle to do it with though.

Because it's an SJ.

Im not sure the bed in the back "overlander" idea will work but we are hopeful as there are so many places to visit . Will start work on it after xmas as moving house at the moment and storage garage doesn't have any power and my toolkit doesn't extend to a cordless skill saw for making up the plywood raised bed area in the back ! , that's gives me an idea for asking santa for xmas lol

Can't see any reason why it can't be done I manage to go with full camping setup in my SWB if I need to. The other option is a roof tent.

Basically its either sleep up top with storage below or sleep down bottom with storage up top.

I've just got a trailer so I think the roof tent would be the option for me now...

Big thankyou to Donkeychomp for the wheels ! I did consider the roof tent idea but I then quickly remembered that after being on the sauce (Very popular activity after a hard day offroading whilst marshalling for BLORC) I generally have to water the flora and fauna a few times and sod going up and down a ladder in the middle of the night !!!!
