Glad that got it sorted. I wouldn't worry where the lever wants to rest in 4H so long as it stays in gear that's fine. Move it to the left and it will still be 4H and the 4wd light should still be on.

Move it forward and you should feel a little notch as it enters N and the 4wd light should go out.

Push it all the way forward from there and it will be in 4L and the 4wd light should re-illuminate.

Just to add.....
When in 4H say "3 o clock" if i move the lever to the right "9 o clock" & let the lever go it then springs
back to the "3 o clock" position.
