Last year I did some MIG welding for the first time in years and I had no end of problems trying to see what I was doing. I think the problem is the eyes respond differently to the wavelength of green light compare to a mix of light. In the end I found that I could only focus if I took my glasses off, reading glasses might work for others.
I just wish my welds were as good as those above.

I've found having a bright light behind me shining at the area im welding realy improves my vision lots through the mask. Also having a auto tiny mask helps.

My eyesight is better than Scottie's, he's now got prescription glasses just for MIG welding that helps a bit, but I do find it easier to use see with the ARC too.

I'm glad it's not just me!

Hell yes. Want those skills, want lots.

I'd have to try that. My best welds with the MIG have always been outside in bright sunshine, so there's something to what you say!

I have an auto darkening helmet, so does Scottie. They're awesome, but still the ARC is easier to see.

How do they differ from his normal glasses?
