Aftermarket Steering Damper worth it?
Re: Aftermarket Steering Damper worth it?
Depends on the use of the sj really......I have a dent in a 6mm thick steel diff guard on my sj and I've bent steering links before so it wouldn't take me long to destroy a steering damper mounted down there
You can drill dropped pitman arms to use the standard mounts, I had to drill the pitman on my vitara steering box to mount mine.

Re: Aftermarket Steering Damper worth it?
Thanks for all the help guys, I decided I'm going to get a pro comp or rough country one, I like the look of them and I don't do any extreme off roaring so I think they should be okay,
I wanted one before the weekend as I'm going away in the sj for a week but nowhere seems to have any in stock :( I have tried llama4x4, jimni bits and parasource, anywhere else that might have them in stock?
Thanks.

I'd still advise a standard one over after market There's no benefits from an aftermarket damper and it only takes one rock in the middle of a water crossing / rut / green lane at 5mph and that's £70 down the drain.

Re: Aftermarket Steering Damper worth it?
You guys are not going to give in are you!
Right, llama4x4 are waiting for a delivery any day now, if they don't have them in stock tomorrow then I will order a standard one, hopefully to be delivered by Saturday.
Parasource show them in stock on eBay yes but when I phone them yesterday they said they have them for jimni and vitara but no sj
I removed the damper tonight and she actually drives better now, she seemed to want to drive to the left slightly and the steering wheel was always a couple of degrees off either way when adjusting by 1 spline, but it seems to be better now, could just be me though!
