don't you hate it when you have something that needs doing and all you want to do is get to your suk to do it but you're stuck at work till 7.30, and you're only going to waste the last 2 1/2 hours because you'll be thinking about doing it instead of working....I have that right now! thanks for that bud, hugely helpful! got oil leak and black smoke issue sorted in one thread, I feel greedy :hahaha:

whilst you two are bickering ill take this time to thank you both as my oil leak is no longer leaking (there is the tiniest of drips but that I can live with) and I'm no longer pouring black smoke into the atmosphere! am I allowed to query why my accelerator randomly sticks on or should I start a new thread?

:doublethumbs: glad it's sorted matey.

Dissconnect the cable from the pedal and remove it from the bulkhead, carefully, the plastic clip goes a bit brittle after 20+ years  check it for frayed wires and also maybe unscrew the pedal assembly and inspect the captive nuts that hold the pedal on while you are there. I've seen the metal on the bulkhead crack around there. If all that looks good then clean and lube the throttle linkage on the carb.
