With my 1.6 8v I always used the sammy exhaust manifold just because it's so easy and it fits like a glove! Never gave me any noticeable problems!

cool! do you run a vitara/ or a bigger bore exhaust though? coz my standard one is like a pee shooter.

I sometimes ran the complete standard exhaust, and sometimes with a custom back pipe with a 2.5" exit cherrybomb at the back.

There was a noticeable performance boost with the cherrybomb pipe on! The pipe itself was a little larger but not by much.

Its pretty easy to make as well, you only need to do one or two bends in the pipe, use a knackered backbox and chop the flange off it, then weld them together :)

I would imagine an entire system would help, but its not completely necessary...

2 things to be wary of...

Firstly cherry bombs can be quite loud ;)
If you go down that round and want a quieter one try to get one with an exit the same size as the inlet pipe

Also, personally i would advise against using flexi pipe... I used it for a while but always seemed to destroy it when off roading so made a proper pipe instead

i have another head question!!

i thought i would continue to use this thread to prevent clogging up the forum with my silly questions:)

basically, i took my head completely off today so i could take it home and do a port and polish, and it will be easier to make a new intake manifold at home. but i notices these that i dont think ive ever seen in any of my suzuki heads before.

That little jet there. is that for EGR? and if it is does that mean that this engine would have originally been injection?

Yes they are for EGR. If you have no fuel pump mounting then its an EFI head; there were carb models with an EGR.
