i got a trolley jack one of those two tonne ones from some place me dad bought it :S :hahaha: , and its too small i have to put bricks underneath it and when i jack the sj up its allready creaking :shock: :shock: :lol:

Fat mat's dad donated me a trolley jack like that second one... it creeps down (really slowly) so it's not really good enough for his dads workshop!

Works great for me though! It reaches the truck and lifts it up quite well, it just makes me remember that I should be using axle stands as well as a jack ;)

Safety first! You should ALWAYS use axle stands as well a jack if you are working underneath.

And you should make sure that the axle stands are in an adequate position where there is no chance of the vehicle falling off them! The last thing you want is a vehicle falling on top of you! I've lent against my sj before and knocked it off some axle stands :shock:

I've got a set of four ton axle stands. They're overkill I know, but we use them for the Land Rovers too. The trolley jack we've got is one of those little ones too, so we have a big block of wood that we sit it on top of. It's got grooves in it now where the jack sits.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

I know how to use axle stands scott :P

I always use axle stands, and leave the jacks under there as well for additional safety!

:lol: :lol: thats what happend to me the other day i couldnt find any bricks so i used a bit of 6by2 joist from the log burner bin and that has now got marks in it :lol:

and on jacks ive stiil got the original under the bonnet and thats where it stay unless i want a work out, ijust use a clarke trolly jack from machine mart 2 pumps and its at the car 8-)
