Re: Problem is it diff or prop shaft
See if you can wiggle the gearbox input shaft... if you can, its goosed!
When there is enough room to look straight at the clutch I don't bother with the tool, just make sure its all lined up round the edges and in the middle
This is what a good clutch plate should look like:
Old clutch looks like this:

Re: Problem is it diff or prop shaft
When bolting the clutch onto the flywheel I look around the edge of the clutch and flywheel.
They should be exactly the same size, so as long as they are lined up all the way around the edge it should be OK
You can also see when it's lined up by looking into the hole in the center.
Just remember that sometimes the gearbox splines don't match up exactly with the splines in the clutch plate. It can sometimes help putting the prop in the back of the gearbox and turning it a little bit

So the starter motor turns round but it doesnt fire up?
The cap does physically fit on the wrong was around, so its worth checking that. If its a brown dizzy cap there should be an arrow on it (arrow goes at the top)

Re: Problem is it diff or prop shaft
Well basically, the lead that comes from cylinder 1 (front of the engine) should be at the top
