I've driven it but the carb and timing seem way off and
It only gets going in high revs. So I think a timing light is needed.

Driving my misses Jimny today I asked myself why didn't
I just by one of these??
This sounds like a bodywork modification worthy of at least one photo bud. Just to see if its upto your usual high standards.

Borrowed a timing light. Roughly set it for now as the neighbours
Have little ones in bed.

Much much better. It's got some poke that's for sure.
I'll try to finely tune it tomorrow and wire the fuel pump
Properly.

Gearbox is just rubbish so that's a job for Tuesday night. Will
Swap to a sami t box at the same time.

Replacement bonnet fitted after modding
The plenum chamber to lower the carb height.
Oil pump swapped for used unit. Seems to have cured the
Oil light problem but engine still a little tapetty.
Oil drained was two weeks old and had a slight metallic shimmer.
I'm hopeing this is from the rocker that was being starved
but I know my luck.

Gearbox swapped back to the old one. Doesn't change
As nice but at least it's quiet. :doublethumbs:

Engine seems to be using some oil. Gone from full to min
In around 4weeks. No smoke on idle or under load. No leaks anywhere :er:

Well I've just pulled my rear arch away from the quarter panel.
My sami is officially rotten.

Oil light keeps pinging up on idle or under braking when coasting
To a stop. Runs spot on but something definitely isn't right.

Got myself a new daily so the old sami finally gets a break.

Take out the oil light bulb. And I STILL have your calipers...

Hey dude.

I should be heading down to mikes
To collect some springs soon. I'll swing by yours and pick up the calipers. :doublethumbs:

Today the old tin top was awaken from its slumber after the mot ran out in may. And its not in its finest condition. It eventually spluttered into life and produced its own blue smoke screen and sounded like a 300tdi landy. Im assuming the oil has soaked into the bores whilst sitting as it was using loads of oil before i parked it.
Coughing and spluttering and struggling to move. Footwells full of water and covered in moss and leaves. Oil light on and running like crap.

Time for some tinkering then.
