My mig is so old , probably don't make em any more. CeeTee 130, budget buy at the time. Use it on CO2 pub bottles, no issues for me , wouldn't bother with argon mix myself unless specialist welding.(tight Yorkshire man)
Manage's modern car thin tin with 0.6 wire, 0.8 wire does 6mm easy, 8-10mm from 2 sides. Gas from local catering supplies, last one was £17 and they apologised for the price rise! They are used to selling to mig users, all set up with exchange bottles in stock for welding. Ally bottles as well.
I do quite abit of welding and that lasts me around a year (relative, I know) I keep a spare small bottle of gas, hate it when it just runs out(single gauge), even worse when the wire runs out shortly after!

I've just welded with gas for the first time..Wow,what a difference from gasless.

No but my welding is still sh!te...Thinking I need a pro to give me a couple of lessons.

Just keep going.

Keep tweaking settings and seeing what it does.

Pay attention to what you are doing so when it suddenly goes really well you know what made it happen.

The learning is all practice and more practice.

Good prep makes a huge difference aswell.

Funny thing is that when I weld a piece of scrap metal I seem to be able to weld really well but then it all goes pear shaped when I weld something important..... Practicing,practicing,practicing Tweaking,tweaking,practicing

Because the scrap is nice and clean, thick, and gravity it on your side.

Turn to the anus and its bible paper thin, dirty, and not always at a nice angle.

I've been welding and grinding away tonight!

Managed to plate over nearly all of the massive hole in my drivers side rear arch!!!

I reckon 2 more little plates and the arch is done, gotta do maybe 2 small plates under the sill right next to the body mount though

Should have the arch all finished and painted by the end of the week!

havent got any pics yet cos I didnt bring my phone out with me

got done over today getting gas. No 10L in stock till next week even though I went in last week and they said midweek this week.

got my deposit back and went elsewhere only to find out they had upped their prices and changed from normal rent free to a deposit that depreciates over time!!

Now gotta go back to the first place with my tail between my legs and get a 20L!
