Diesels are for trucks and cars i suppose.

If you want power try Ladamans Ignis swap. If you want ease, more power and torque fit a g16 with a carb. I couldn't believe just how easy that was.

I think I will probably do the g16, I would prefer to do the mpfi as its got better mpg than the carb'd one right?

Yeah it probably will, but I noticed a dramatic improvement in MPG when I went 1.6 anyway.
I'm pretty sure its because the engine will push the car at the same speed using half the throttle of the 1.3! I imagine the 1.0 to 1.6 conversion may be an even more drastic difference!

I've not noticed much of a difference between the 1.0 and 1.6 to be honest, in fact my 1.6 is probably worse on fuel now and I've only gone from 31s to 33s  (might be something to do with the twin transfer boxes giving more drag)

Yeah you haven't exactly gone for fuel economy with yours have you ;)

Big tyres weigh a lot!!!

Can't really use the big tyres as an argument to fuel economy in this discussion. I was running 31x11.50s with the f10 and I run 33x12.50s with the G16 hardly a huge difference in tyre size ;)

Lets not forget my run home from billing. 38mpg with 31s. That was outta the 1.3 with a rock lobster.

lol yeah you can use tyre weight... one of your tyres probably weighs twice as much as mine!! ;)

and you did just say this

"in fact my 1.6 is probably worse on fuel now and I've only gone from 31s to 33s" lol

anyway, SJs are surprisingly good on motorways and dual carriageways... its city/countryside driving that uses all your fuel!!!
