So...I now have the relevant 'birth certificate' for Elsie and the MOT is booked for friday. On the ride back from the testers the last time I noticed a marked front wheel wobble and thought it might be the bearings but it turns out the disc pads are the wrong ones...I have now fitted correct ones and made up a plate that show the frame number...last time I had the ELS 1E plate one and that would be asking for a pull...probably get 3 points for displaying an illegal number plate. So, new pads, a bit of a polish and all good to go.

Fingers xxd.

Sooo me being dumb, has it not got a reg number, and that is why you had to get the birth certificate? Can you not get it registered, or dose it need the mot first? And finally will the bill accept it with the frame number as you are going for an mot?

Must admit i have never seen this new number plate thingy,it was always the No plate that cam with the bike/car or what ever, but if it was say a import or a brand new build with totally new parts it was issued with a 'Q' plate to highlight the fact that it was say a import.

I am guessing this new thing must be to do away with the old 'Q' place problem, does look weird though with those new plates.

Hope all goes well on the MOT on friday,be nice to see a LC back on the road,at one time you could see no end of them on the road everyday, but 2smokes have gone out of fashion it seems these days, long live the 'Expansion pipes'

She's a German import...so the law is get her insured using the frame number, then go get her MOT'd...all legit as long as you have a booked MOT. Once she passes you send the MOT to the DVLA along with the proof of date of manufacture and they issue an aged related plate. Then get some tax and all road legal.

Bollocks! Got to the MOT place and the guy goes on line with the DVLA who say they cannot find the frame number for my bike. Not surprised as it is German. So the twerp at the DVLA says he will get his supervisor to call back, and guess what? He didn't. Fucking morons.
