Fitting YJ springs to a Samurai

The axle won't articulate with just free weight, the majority of the flex is achieved from the the leverage on the bumpstop. As the compressed side lifts it forces the opposite side to droop.

I really don't see the need for rose joints etc or any other gimmicks instead of just plain bushes it's just another component to wear and fail. plenty of flex available without even running missing links from YJs, all those set ups really do is reduce the amount that the spring twists during articulation, I can't really see them actually increasing the amount if flex available enough be worth the additional cost.

As this thread already has the attention of most of the YJ users and people planning to use them.

What size tube are people using for the front hangers?

SJ sized tube with the SJ bushes spread apart a bit to suit the added width.

Or

A piece of tube the correct size for standard YJ bushes to fit in?

My front shackle hangers are fitted with YJ bushes, the tube used is actually the sleeve that was cut off the YJ I got my springs off. pretty sure the YJ bush dimensions are about on the tinterweb somewhere, just can't remember where i found it as it was years ago i was looking

Just measured a spring eye. Guess all the bushes are the same. 40mm id.

I've just measured the front mounting point tube on my chassis and it measures 30mm ID. I've also measured the bore of the spring I believe to be from a YJ and it measures 1.250", about 31.75mm at one end and 1.500" at the other end.

If I then compare this eBay item number 331085426080 to the Super Pro website and search for the part number give, I get different sizes again

This gives a diameter of 38mm

All very confusing, and the bad thing is I need some bushes!!

When I made mine I made the chassis mount to suit the standard sj bushes (30mm ID). I then bought a full yj superpro bush kit and turned the 8 yj body bushes to 30mm OD. This way it only meant buying one bush kit , but them poly bushes are a bit tricky to machine but not impossible
