Been generally pottering on with it over the last few weeks.

Fitted door locks this afternoon. Next major thing is a new fuel tank i think.

Fairly important. It has some pin prick holes in the pick up pipe. Currently sorted with a liberal splodge of sealant.

Noticed it the other week when it wouldn't start and wasn't sucking fuel. Changed filters and fuel lines and eventually found these holes. Gonna get a price for a custom tank off a lad i know. Another thing i've been meaning to do for about 10yrs.

From experience, most sealants are broken down very effectively by petrol...

Added another release spring to the x-eng as it wasn't releasing properly. Got some more springs to swap the originals on the slider pins too.

Swapped the Samurai indicators (that didn't fit right) for SJ indicators.

Went to change the needle and spring in the SU at the weekend. Was 100% sure i had the needle and spring as i'd bought them ages ago.

Dug them out and the needle code just didn't seem right. Double checked it against the SU info on here.

Bought them so long ago i still had a 1.3 in, they are for a 1.3! Do'h!

Still, they will do for the other Zuk when i start work on that.

Ordered the correct needle and spring today. When i fitted the SU years ago it started and ran, i have no idea how it's setup so will fit these and see if it improves it.

Wheel bearings stripped, greased and retightened. Ordered a spare today too just to have, just incase.

Had some spare time today and ventured into the garage.

Fuel tank plan. Nice and square. 870mm wide and 280 x 280. Same width as the chassis rails, same depth as original tank so i can use the original sender gauge but overall bigger capacity.

Spent today taking off all the old lights, drained and removed the fuel tank and cleaned it up a touch.

Also spent today figuring out how to mark up steel tube using a sleeve template, think I have it sorted but will find out when i mark up and do a test cut and joint.

I’d love to have the rear tray made of bent tube but for ease and speed i think it’ll be mitre joints.

Now i’ve started hopefully i’ll get my finger out and finish it in time to at least use it a couple of times this year.

Nicely done Jordi, good you're cracking on with it finally!

Will mitre joints be strong enough though? Surely there will be someone local that could knock two bends into a bit of tube?
