OK so mine is a late model vit with an early model hot wire MAF sensor with built in IAT sensor

You can see the IAT sensor inside the MAF sensor pipe.... duh!

I haven't got the immoboliser model number on me but will check it on my next trip out to the garage

I have the MAF and TPS connectors from section 6E1-3 of the later immobiser manual...

Can you tell me how these relate to vref, signal, and ground (for the TPS) and any idea what B+ and Is connect to? I'm guessing one is temp and one is MAF?

MAF:
B+ is battery
Is is signal

TPS:
Vc = 5V
Vs = output volts
Id = idle
E2 = gnd

OK so I guess no temp sender... last place to look is the lower airbox which I think is in the back of the truck...

I will get it and check it out but I'm not so sure there is one on there... Im going to leave the MAF sensor disconnected for now but might use it later on

I'll fid the immo as well

Right I've now made a blanking plate for the EGR stepper motor... all of the solenoids and pipes for it are now gone! Should still be able to pass emissions as I've only got to meet carb targets...

Rhinoman, do you have any info about the stepper motors? I'm wondering if I can make a mini manifold for it and use it for IAC...
also the tiny solenoids that the EGR system uses... do you know if they can take 12v or just 5v?
I might use one in the air line to the MAP sensor... then I can have a hidden switch which will open and close the solenoid and stop the engine from running!

I will give the PWM valve a go though to begin with...

The stepper motor info is in the link above, on my engine there are no other solenoids on the EGR. You should have one for canister purge and maybe on for the throttle opener if you have one, those are 12V.

Yeah its the canister purge one I was looking at... should default closed I guess so I can wire it into the ignition via a switch... so if the switch is off it won't start!
Cheers, I'll check out the stepper info as the holes in it look about the same size as the pipes coming out of the standard idle valve!

Rhinoman,

I think I saw you posted about looking for a crank position sensor for a jimny... just wondering on the offchance... do you know if they (or any other zook CP sensors) fit on a vit 16v engine?

I'm looking for the trigger wheel from the camshaft, I'll probably end up making my own. The later cam sensors would need a different cam because they are driven off the end rather than from gears. If you change the cam then the optical sensors are the most versatile because they are easily modified to create different patterns.
