I was looking at making a spacer to so I can attach a trigger wheel onto the cam pulley, then adapting the cambelt cover to house the sensor. Such a shame you cant get a cam sensor attaches to the dizzy mount :(

Why not just modify the vane for the cam sensor in the dizzy? that would be simple enough.

Well theres a slight problem with the dizzy... for some reason it has play in it... I think it's got to be something to do with the camshaft gear and the dizzy gear not quite matching up properly...
I've tried it with multiple distributors that I know are OK but they are all the same... So Ideally i'd like to do away with the whole thing. Will make a cap to cover the gear unless I can drive something else from it that doesn't need to as precise as the timing signal

You will always get backlash (play) with gears unless you have a spring loaded backlash gear, its not important because the dizzy always drives in the same direction so the backlash is always taken up, if you're familiar with a lathe then you'll be used to this.

No I've not really used a lathe before, except 12 years ago at school!
I was thinking about just using a trigger wheel like this:
bolt it to the regular cam pulley, probably with a small spacer, then weld it on...
I was going to try and work out some way of attaching it without removing the pulley but it might be difficult

The easiest bolt-in solution is an early Baleno dizzy with the 5-tooth sensor. Otherwise I would use the missing tooth sensor on the crank and fit the dizzy with a vane with a single slot to detect no.1.

I would put it on the crank fanbelt pulley instead as it would be easier, but MS recommend running a sensor from the cam if you are running coil on plug

Then for a sensor mount I will use a strip of metal and bolt it on underneath the cambelt cover on the inlet side... the should allow me to put the sensor around 45 btdc

The simplest way is to fire the plugs in two banks in a wasted spark arrangement. You only really need a cam sensor if you're running synchronous EFI.
There isn't much room under the cambelt cover.

yeah wasted spark would be easier, but i am planning of going for individual sparks...
seems to me like wasted spark will basically halve the lives of the coils and the plugs...
Yeah I'm going to measure the cam pulley and try and get a trigger wheel that is just slightly bigger so hopefully i wont have to chop much out of the cover... although im not that worried if I have to adjust the cover to hide the wheel... its only plastic after all
