Hi there,

You are still running the standard carb right?
The standard fuel pump will fill up the carb float and then chuck any extra fuel back down the return to the tank.
The facet electric pump will fill up the carb float and then stop pumping so it should be OK if you just block the fuel return hose (the thinner pipe) off.
an SU carb has a fuel overflow pipe in case the float gets stuck open. im not sure if the standard carb has something similar, but if it does you can connect that to the fuel return instead

hi thanks for the reply think ive plumbed it all in correctly just wired the fuel pump to the battery to test it and it doesnt seem to fire it will if i pour a little petrol down the carb so i know the ignition timing is ok which either means the fuel pump is no good (it works i can hear and see it pumping) or i have the pipes the wrong way round it was getting dark when i tried it so will have another go tomorow

this is the fuel pump im using
