folded sills

My sills are all bent from being crashed into at both sides, was going to replace them with box section when i got round to it, but thinking instead just cutting off the seam at the bottom of the sill and folding the bottom and outer sill flaps back under themselves, so rather than having a channel style sill, it will be like an L shape, are there any disadvantages to doing this?

It'll look pretty ugly I think and loose a bit of strength.

What about tucking the sills like mine?

Box section sills are probably the easiest though.

Yea that looks good! Is the outer the original sill folded under? Or a seperate sheet?

Outer sill cut off and flipped upside down ;)

I also like this alternative to box section sills, bit more work but more clearance and built in rub rails.

I like those! If I ever redo my sills, I'll probably do something like that.

I might do it on the longwheelbase, those sills are screwed.

Easy, two L shapes spot welded together (plug weld if you don't have a spot welder)

Simple. Bosh.

Outer sill panels are £25 each

Bash them in away you go.

Cheers guys, few ideas to be on with. Probably go with something i can just make as a whole mike so as to not spend an extra £50 if i can help it.

Tim I can always get you some outer sill panels folded up like the ones I have used on my fathers longwheelbase.
