Diff carrier side bearings.

Hi, new here. I'm rebuilding a set of differentials and struggling to get the side bearings at an affordable price. All the retailers are saying that they are in minimal production and therefore expensive :/ Timken ones are £80 per bearing! Boyes has some cheap source, so I wanted to PM him for info.

I know I can reuse bearings, but Suzuki don't give preload settings for used bearings.

Unless you order a kit from the US then unfortunately they are that expensive everywhere, for used bearings I just measure the starting torque before taking the diff apart and then set it up to that.

I will lift your restrictions so that you can PM him, I'm see he'll happily share the info on the open forum though.

Hi Scottie, yes my research confirms what you've just said. If using the old bearings then set them back to the preload at which they were removed. I didn't do this, set the preload to factory spec, and the bearings were over heating. Hence rebuild number two..
