What spacer size would be good?

Hi. I'm a newbie to the club. We've a 2004 Grand Vitara 1.6 petrol Suzuki. I'm looking to fit wheel spacers. What size is appropriate? The range appears to be 10 to 40mm. I'm looking to further improve the stance of the vehicle. Any idea where I can obtain them? A used set would be fine to keep the cost down. Thanks for your help. n1gey

Hi there,

There are two options of spacers that people normally go for.

First type is Grayston... these are the cheaper type and I think they are usually 30mm spacing on each wheel. They are hollow spacers, with hexagonal spacer bolts that are locked into place by the spacers themselves.
Lots of people complain because they are cheap and nasty, but Ive been running them for years.
Only time Ive had a problem was when I drove down the road with loose wheel nuts (stupid I know)
As the wheel was wiggling about it stripped the threads off the spacer bolts.

The other type is the billet aluminium type. They are better quality, but the spacer bolts/nuts don't lock in place and Ive heard stories about them coming loose.
I think the billet spacers are 25mm spacing.

Graystons are usually about £40-50 for a set... billet spacers can be £100+ if you buy them new

I agree with Twiss, Grayston are fine, I had them on my SJ for maybe 7 years and that was with 31" tyres on a massive offset too. They are 32mm, and a bit of a faff to fit, but WAY cheaper than billet.
