TEALEAVES ABOUT
Noticed on a few pictures the registration plate is blanked out, i guess its so low lives cannot find where the vehicle lives.....good idea i suppose....mines got ignition cut out plus alarm plus tracker
Thought about removing the wheels but that's a bit time consuming......

You see a lot of that on fleabay too. Some peeps put in their ads that plate has been left un obscured so peeps can do a HPI check but I guess there must be some scam out there to trigger peeps into the practise.
Still looking for Buckeye road.
Re: TEALEAVES ABOUT
I've never seen the point of hiding the reg....it's visible at all times on road anyway.
The dvla will not release owner details without a valid reason...it's not an online process and would be traceable back through the dvla. if your vehicle did get stolen and someone had requested details as they would have their details..including their address where the information was sent to for the request.
The best way to stop car thieves is to immobilise your vehicle either physically or electronically.

On this topic is there a preferred / best way to fit something (under dash say) that kills all electrics. I'm concerned my SJ is totally unsecured on the drive. Years ago used to take the rotor arm off on the old mini, but it's too tedious.

I use a universal switch that cuts ign supply even with key on. It's nothing fancy and no one would ever think to switch it on before starting (apart from you guys reading!)
Works exactly like an immobiliser. Really a genuine disklok is best all round. I use both.

Re: TEALEAVES ABOUT
The main reason why number plates are blanked out either when a car is being sold or you sometimes even see scrap cars on the back of a lorry going to the breakers is the fact the cars can be cloned.
Someone could use a similar car as yours say a SJ413 then get a set of number plates made up using your registration number and add them to the nicked car, then they could go and do say a bank job or drive around London avoiding the congestion charge or speeding fines etc.If they get picked up by camera then you would be either sent a speeding fines or approached by the police for doing the bank job.
So basically this is the main reason its done by the criminal world, trouble is us normal law abiding folks then have to prove it was not us driving the get away car.
It has nothing too do with theft from your vehicle but using your cars stolen identity to be used for illegal purposes.

Yes that's my point exactly..... You drive around in your car everyday so if someone wants to nick your reg it's not exactly going to be hard.
In fact my sister literally just had her number plates stolen then someone used them to drive around stealing petrol. Police came round, instantly realised that was the case and all was fine. Then the caught the people doing it.

Re: TEALEAVES ABOUT
A simple mod is to fit a switch into the electrical supply to the fuel pump that way the thieves make it about 10 feet before they run out of fuel (carb).I have also got one of those big yellow metal dish things that cover the steering wheel. They have one of the highest attack ratings time wise.
