Paint chip repair and restoration, any advice?

After contacting many body work shops and having no reply from any I want to have a go at repairing the chips and deep scratches on my GV

I have a few chips on the bonnet, front of the near side wing and on the front of the roof, these chips go back to the metal work and show a little rust, so I need to sand back to the metal body and start from scratch but I'm not so sure how to go about it

My paint is metallic and I read a few times that metallic is a pain to respray?

I know that there are places that mix pant for you so but don't know of any near me so that may be a eBay job, I have the paint code from the plate under the bonnet...

I don't see myself much good with respraying but if anyone can give me a step by step guide of any sort or knows of any videos on YouTube at all that would be great..

Thanks in advance...

Best bet with bodyshop places is to go and actually speak to them and let them see the car and what you want doing as its hard to quote over the phone or via email also a lot of places tend to not bother replying to emails or answer the phone lol

If I can get these chips repaired then my next purchase will be a bonnet guard

Yea most places are old school and up to date with technology usualy cost a kidney or 2 lol

The only mobile place i can think off top of my head is chipsaway.

Never used them but seen the vans driving around near me.

Motor factor should be able to make up paint from the code. My local used to before he shut down

If you get some paint mixed up a good implement
To touch the chips up with is a biro. Works very well.

Some of these mobile/ smart repair companies are sometimes more
Expensive than a bodyshop. And the quality can be shocking.
I helped strip a friend's range rover sport for colour coding and it had had some
Smart repairs done to the bumper. Wipe the bumper down with
A hand wipe and the paint came off! It was just basecoat
That had been buffed to hell. No laquer at all.

The guy I emailed is the chips away guy for my area, will see what they say, I will see how he does it if he does and if he doesn't use clear coat I'll put some on myself, got a rattle can of upol clear coat in the shed, never thought of motor factors for paint, will have to give them a ring and see if they do it,

I can't use any pens or anything on these chips cause they are rusty so I want to treat the rust so it doesn't start turning into a rust hole..
