GV 2000 Engine revs issue

Hi all , new to the board but have had a Vitara now for a few years , V6 first and now my GV2000 which I have had about 4 years with no problems .... up until a few days ago .
What happened was that the GV2000 would not start when it was hot so I had a search around and found lots of advice on changing the Cam Sensor , this I have done and that seems to have cured the "wont start when its hot " problem.
What I have noticed now is that if you just touch the throttle when its idling the revs drop down , just a few 100 rpm but enough so that it almost stalls at junctions but then it picks up again and goes like normal.
Also the plenum chamber makes a 'whomp' noise when it does it !!
It will rev to full rpm after its done its hesitation issue.
This is what I have tried after reading a few threads first ...
Removed and cleaned out the EGR valve (pain cos its at the back of the engine), still the same hesitating problem
Tried the old Cam Sensor , still the same hesitating problem
Removed the air cleaner , still the same hesitating problem
Checked all the pipe work . breathers etc that go to the plenum chamber ...no holes no problems found
Switching the lights on brings the engine rpm down , I did think that the CPU was supposed to compensate for this but I may be wrong.
The GV2000 is 2001 and has 60K on the clock .
Sorry its a long first post but am trying to give as much info as I can .
Thanks in advance
