Vitara Hoods

Post by portobellokev » Tue Sep 09, 2014 9:29 am

Is there a difference between hoods for early and later Vitara's?

I want a tan hood for my 1999 JX

these guys http://www.prestigeautotrim.co.uk/acata ... Hoods.html
make them in colours but only to suit 1988-1994 models.

I e mailed them and they tell me that later models all had 2 piece hoods i.e. front and back sections.

Is this correct or will one of these hoods fit OR can anyone suggest anywhere else I can get a good quality tan hood. thanks

Hi there,

I believe that they are different after 1998. Mark 1 is 88-98, Mark 2 is 92-02
They look very similar, but I am pretty sure that the hood from one won't quite fit on the other

They certainly are different but you can make the two piece ones fit an earlier Vit, but not the other way round. I know because I did it!

Ah nice

My mate tried it the other way... fit a older-style soft top on a newer vit and there were a few gaps!!!
