Hi All,
Am planning to sort out (tidy up) the wiring in my engine bay soon. I will need to use spade connectors. A box with a selection I bought from Halfruads seem to be pretty brittle and my cheapo crimper just mashes and distorts them.

So who supplies the best spades and connectors and I think I will invest in a decent crimping tool while I am at it - so advice on that appreciated as well please?

use bare crimps, the type that clamp on the cable and the insulation, they require two crimps this way, and they don't pull of the wire as easily because of it. then just use a bit of heatshrink over the bare parts to insulate them. It's what I use for pretty much all my work now, and wouldn't go back to the pre insulated ones

also these brass ones don't tend to burn up as easily, as they clamp on better. just make sure you get matching sizes, as I believe there are 6.3mm ones, and 6.4mm ones, and the 6.3mm ones won't fit on a 6.4mm spade

Your local screw fix will have what you need less than £20 you can get a ratchet crimper and spade crimps both male and female.

Get a quality crimper, not one of those flimsy things that cost £1.99. Mine was about £20 and it clicks to let you know it's done it's job. Local motor factors sells good ones in a bag, 50 for about a fiver. I can send some over if you like.

I agree donkeychomp I will deffo get a decent ratchet crimper and I like the idea of it clicking to let you know when it is done! Just gotta identify one now. Been looking here and they mostly have the cheapo ones for sale.
