Sheesh I have insomnia bad. Sold my hybrid bike about a year ago, very trick, Merlin alloy frame with Rock Shox Judy's and after a lot of exercise (I lost 4 stone) have decided to buy another. Wanted a Marin as my 1st ever bike was the original Hawk Hill and I loved it. Contacted Marin USA for advice on a new bike and with a budget of £500 was advised to get a Bolinas Ridge, a hardtail, which I wanted but with crap forks (Suntour) and awful Deore components. Tried Marin UK and they suggested two dealers near me, both couldn't be arsed really. Rang them and told them I wanted the forks changed and get this..both said Rock Shox don't fit on a standard Marin frame. Huh? Then how come high spec Marins have them as standard fitment? Dorks.

So about 30 minutes ago I saw a Marin East Peak (full bounce always wanted to try one) in my frame size with Rock Shox, upgrades discs, Mavic wheels and LX components. Buy it now for £400. Sod the financial situation I bought it.

Going to get muddy with both LJ and bike methinks!

Top job, mate. Best £400 you'll ever spend, that's a hell of a bike for the money, and (unlike our Zuks) it's an investment - in health!

Congrats on losing 4 stone! I think I'm down 6 so far. Got another 2 or so to go myself. Also, I know your insomniac pain well. Last night I went for an hour drive at 4am because I couldn't stand lying in bed anymore

And it's 2am, and I'm still awake. Again.

I prefer little wheels when it comes to bikes myself sounds like a good buy, my frame cost nearly £400

in the R & D department. Forget all the California hype, the main
company and design department is in Hastings, East sussex.

Scottie - the last time I rode a BMX, I couldn't resist a jump that resulted in a KO and a concussion. I haven't riden one since, as I tend to ride like a moron, and BMX's bring out the worst in me.

And Ju - aye. 2 wheels or 4, sideways is best.

Oh and I do have a longboard...that is a hoot!

Long board, how I wrecked my knee, such happy memories

I'm 6'1" and it's fine I've got a pretty long frame, top loading stem and tall bars.

Would love another mtb though, used to have a nice DMR jump bike.

Injuries are all part of the fun Anton I've had a fair few concussions but always wear a helmet nowadays, you need one when you are hitting jumps that are 6-7ft tall with 18-20ft gaps.

Matt miles on here rides BMX trails as well, in fact we have quite a few mtb and BMX riders on here.

And that reminds me I need to figure out a way to get bikes on the Jimny
