does anyone know the law with rear seat belts?

mine came with rear seats but no belts fitted. I know rear belts became compulsory, I think before mine was first registered, but has anyone here needed to fit them?

If you have rear seats you need seat belts...that is if anyone is sitting in the seat. Most here junk the rears for many reasons...more storage space, less weight etc.

When I looked it up it always says 'where fitted' regarding rear belts.

It doesn't really matter I guess, more of a technicality since they probably won't be going back in either.

Yep, and not an MOT issue either...if there are no rear seats then belts are superfluous.

how about fitting bars to the front? The law changed a few years ago didn't it, but what are you allowed to run with?

All SJ's had the optional extra of having bull bars fitted. So it's fine to drive with them on. More modern cars can't have them.
