Callipers not the same on Samurai.

I’m refurbishing the front axle on the Samurai and noticed that the front callipers are not the same. Both are Lucas but the one on the right is two pieces bolted together and the other is a single casting. One is obviously not original, but which one?

I think the 1 piece is the Samurai one. All 4 of my calipers are 1 piece jobbys.
The 2 piece may be a Vitara one? Scotty has Vitara brakes on his SJ so I am sure he will be along shortly to tell you.

Neither of those look like my Vit calipers.

I'd need to do a little research, but I believe that the 2 piece one is a Lucas-Sumimoto calliper from a Jimny, the 1 piece is a Lucas-girling from a Spanish Samurai.
Do they take the same brake pads?
Might be a good idea to get Twiss to look, he's got both types of calipers,he should know for sure.

Thanks for the replies. It is a Spanish built samurai and yes the pads that were fitted were the same both sides.
This thread has a picture of a Samurai with a caliper like the one on the right in my photo.

Then they're Lucas-Sumimoto and Lucas-Girling, 99.8% certain. Check with Twiss to be sure though.
Pads look like this:

I have the left calipers on the front and the right calipers on the back.
The left ones are the standard fitment to a late model Spanish samurai like mine
They definitely take the same pads

The one on the right is the same as the pair that was fitted to my Samurai, when the wheel bearing went, and I lost a wheel!
So I believe I have ONE spare if you are looking for just the one?
Or are you planning on running odd ones
