Yesterday i came back with home with my new toy, i say yesterday what i mean is 5:30am this morning after the rear prop shaft decided it didn't want to be attached anymore and sheared off..
I'm not sure if the rear axle/diff caused the UJ to fall apart or if the UJ caused the 3-4mm of side to side play in the diff but either way i need a prop shaft and probably an axle (as i suspect its probably damaged the crown and pinion) or at the very least the support bearing..
Suggestions more than welcome on where to get new bits..
In the end I had to get on the floor and unbolt the rear prop and put it in 4WD to drive the last 170 mile (of 370 miles)
NOT FUN AT ALL!
Plan is to remove the engine and interior, remove the body and wax oil (etc) the chassis as its totally solid and i want it to stay that way, then ensure the bottom of the body is rock solid anything that isn't will get cut out and a new pieces welded in.
There is a hole (you could get your fist through) on the N/S/F behind the head light but strangely the other side is totally solid.
New winch bumper, arch trims, side steps and eventually outer roll cage..
2 big new batteries (plus bigger alternator) to ensure i can run a winch like the SUPERWINCH TIGER SHARK 11500LB for at least 20 mins without the engine running.
Hard top, one with an easily removable bit above the front seats for summer.
Replace the 2 front mounted electric candles with something more useful.. (Suggestions welcome)
Then a full respray in...
I'm sorry, no really i am, i can't help it...
Yellow (Sorry again)
Dean.
